By now, most fair-minded people will have concluded that the 2022 World Cup tournament in Qatar was a relative success and not the failure many had hoped. In three years, when the prelude to the next World Cup starts, it is reasonable to believe that two teams will be mentioned: Saudi Arabia and Morocco. The first for beating Argentina, the eventual winner, and the second for reaching the last four, thus becoming the first African, Arab-Amazigh and Muslim country to make it that far. The tried and tested football academies

In a world dominated by a handful of national football teams, success is often defined by turning back the calendar to many years ago, more precisely by how you developed your youth. There are currently 143 French professional footballers plying their trade in Europe’s top four leagues: 34 in England, 41 in Germany, 31 in Spain and 37 in Italy. In the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, 59 players were born in France: 22 played for France, 10 for Tunisia, 9 for Senegal, 8 for Cameroon, 4 for Ghana, 2 for Morocco, 1 each for Germany, Spain, Portugal and Qatar. Comparing the numbers with the 2018 FIFA World Cup, 50 players were born or raised in France. This is not a coincidence. The FIFA Club World Cup is an international men's football competition organised by FIFA. The winners of the AFC Champions League (Asia), CAF Champions League (Africa), CONCACAF Champions League (North, Central America and Caribbean), CONMEBOL Libertadores (South America), OFC Champions League (Oceania) and UEFA Champions League (Europe) plus the host nation meet in the finals in a straight knock-out format. This year’s FIFA Club World Cup was held in Morocco. Real Madrid was crowned champions for the fifth time after they defeated KSA’s Al-Hilal on a score of 5-3. In addition to the FIFA Club World Cup, Saudi Arabia will also host the AFC Asia Cup 2027, another major tournament involving 24 national teams from Asia. The Saudi Pro League (SPL) must innovate if it wants to attract younger players still in their prime. It must create an environment where young talented players stop seeing the league as a place to retire in the golden sunset. The cream of the crop playing in the SPL are all over 35. Ronaldo is 38, Benzema 35. The following players are rumored to be playing for the SPL next season: Modric, 37, Kante, 32, Aubemeyang, 33, Mahrez, 32, Son and Zaha are 30 years old. Il se trouve que j’ai commencé à suivre le foot de façon plus assidue à l’issue de cette Coupe du Monde et ce, à travers mes premières étoiles de jeunesse que sont Salaheddine Bassir et Ahmed Bahja. En effet, après avoir fini meilleur buteur du championnat marocain de l’année 1993-1994, puis ébloui la planète du football par sa technique hors du temps lors de la Coupe du Monde, notamment contre l’Arabie Saoudite, Ahmed Bahja a rejoint Al Hilal de Riyad puis Al Ittihad de Djeddah où il brilla de mille feux en finissant meilleur buteur du championnat saoudien!
